Newcastle United star found the key to scoring high both off and on the field

In soccer, injuries are part of the job. The Swedish professional soccer player, who is currently playing right-back for Newcastle United, has been devoted to the sport all his life and knows it’s a hard truth you simply have to learn to live with. What awards and recognition have you received?

I proudly started representing Sweden in 2011 when I was 16. I became the fifth youngest person ever to play in the Sweden U21 team, at just 17 years old. I went on to play in leagues such as Serie A in Italy, Ligue 1 in France, and now the Premier League in England. My biggest achievement to date is participating in the 2018 World Cup.

Can you tell us about any challenges you’ve faced?

The biggest obstacle I’ve faced has been living abroad for many years far away from my family. While moving countries is exciting, there’s a new language to learn each time, which is always overwhelming. And of course, as a professional athlete, there’s always keeping the fear of injuries at bay.
